Back row star Abbott agrees new deal

Worcester Warriors can today announce that dynamic back row forward Jake Abbott has pledged his future to the club by signing a new contract extension.

Abbott, a product of the Academy system at Sixways, has been rewarded for an outstanding first season back in the Aviva Premiership with a new deal by Head Coach Richard Hill.

The powerful home-grown 24-year-old was already contracted for next season but has now agreed new terms beyond that period.

Worcester-born Abbott, who has made a total of 49 appearances for Warriors and scored 11 tries, has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting talents at the club.

An athletic and skillful back row, who has previously been a member of the England Sevens set-up, Abbott has been connected to the club since the age of six as a mini/junior and has worked his way through the entire system to become a first team star.

“Jake is another young player at the Warriors who has impressed with his displays and the hunger he always brings to the game,” said Head Coach Richard Hill.

“He is Worcester through and through and his enthusiasm is infectious while his performances during last season just got better and better. Jake is always willing to learn and get better so we are lucky to have him and Matt Kvesic, two outstanding number sevens, at the club.

“We have rewarded him with an extension to his contract on the back of his performances. He told us at the start of last season that he would play first team rugby for us and he been proven right and backed up everything he said he would do.”
