Former Director of Rugby John Brain passes away

It is with great sadness that Worcester Warriors has today learnt that former Director of Rugby John Brain passed away on Sunday morning.

John joined the Warriors as Head Coach in 2001 and made an enormous contribution during his six-year stay at Sixways.

He became Director of Rugby in 2002 and masterminded promotion to Premiership for the first time in the club’s history – with a perfect 26 out 0f 26 National One record that has yet to be surpassed.

John helped the club consolidate its position in the English elite before leaving the Warriors in April 2007. He went on to work for both Bristol Rugby as Forwards Coach and a second spell at Gloucester Rugby, where he had made over 300 appearances as a player, as Rugby Operations Manager.

Everyone connected with Warriors is deeply saddened by today’s news and our thoughts are with his wife and daughters at this difficult time.
