Excitement growing as new-look Warriors return

Managing Director Charlie Little has revealed the ‘huge amount of excitement’ ahead of the new Aviva Premiership campaign as Warriors report back for pre-season – and spoken of the new structure and culture running through the Sixways club.

The players at Sixways launched pre-season preparations on Monday morning – two and a half months before first league game – with nine new faces in the ranks, including Scotland international winger Nikki Walker, Fiji ace Josh Matavesi, prop John Andress and centre Jon Clarke.

A new-look coaching team has also been assembled during the close season with Nigel Redman, Phil Vickery and Mathieu Rourre all joining up with Richard Hill, Phil Larder, Gary Meechan and Simon Lane. A new Rugby Operations Director has been appointed in Corin Palmer with an Academy Manager to follow.

The backroom team has also seen changes this summer with Mike Lancaster moving up to the role of Head of Medical Services. He will be supported by Karl Denvir, John Chaffe and Ryan Fisher. Tony Hadley will continue to work as a Sprint Coach with the club.

Stuart Pickering continues his work as Head of Strength & Conditioning supported by Scott Pearson, while Kyle Goggin will work as the club’s Sports Scientist, Dr Terry Gasper as Club Doctor, Dr Adam Carey as Club Nutritionist and Tracey Priddey as Player’s Chef.

Tom Tench heads up Performance Analysis, supported by Dan Lyne, while Alun Carter is Team Manager, Chris Derrick as Kit Manager and Karen Andrews in Team Administration.

Head Coach Richard Hill has spoken about how he believes he now the rugby structures in place to build on the infrastructure and facilities at Sixways.

It is a view echoed by Managing Director Little who is convinced the club has the right team on and off the field that, coupled with a shift in attitude and culture, to finally take Warriors forward.

“There is a huge amount of excitement coming through the coaching staff, in particular at what is going to happen throughout the 2012/13 season,” he said.

“We have fantastic facilities, have built a superb backroom and administrative team and have a Board of Directors now in place making the right decisions.

“There will be a seismic shift in culture this season,” he added. “For too long we have accepted our position in the bottom half of the Aviva Premiership.

“We have shown we can win against teams like Saracens but need to be backing that up. The culture, mind-set, behaviours and values from top to bottom will be addressed.

“We have made positive changes during the summer and feel we will have the right people here to deliver what we want, not just in the long term but immediately throughout the entire club.

“The new players have a strong work ethic and that is critical to achieve match day performance. The players we have recruited have a point to prove and will work hard in training and take that onto the pitch and perform.

“A lot of time and investment has been put in by our fans and we start preparations for our eighth season in the top-flight determined to move up.

“For too long we have been considered a club with huge potential. We need to realise our potential and our supporters deserve that success.

“We would encourage fans to now support us again this season and get right behind the Warriors in a crucial year.

“As a club we are fortunate to have a loyal and dedicated group of Season Ticket holders whose ongoing support is crucial to our future. However, we also want to encourage more supporters to come and support the Warriors and believe the new packages make that easier than ever before.

“Our Season Ticket prices not only give supporters exceptional value for money compared to normal match day prices but also represent fantastic value when compared to every other club in the Aviva Premiership.”
