Worcester Warriors have been handed a fascinating draw in the pool stages of this season’s Amlin Challenge Cup after being pitted against French giants USA Perpignan.
Richard Hill’s men, seeded in tier two for the draw in Dublin today (Thursday), will face the seven times French champions Perpignan, Italian outfit Femi-CZ Vea Rovigo and Spanish side Bizkaia Gernika RT in Pool 2.
South France giants Perpignan – runners-up in the Heineken Cup in 2003- will be one of the favourites for the competition with current players including James Hook, Luke Narraway and Luke Charteris.
Worcester also face away trips to Italy to face Rugby Rovigo and Spanish side Bizkaia Gernika RT who play in Northern Spain.
The five pool winners will progress to the quarter-finals where they will be joined by three pool runners-up from the Heineken Cup.
The draw took place at ERC’s offices in Dublin and was overseen by Jon Davies, Tournament and Operations Director, Six Nations Rugby
Full details of all fixtures will be released when agreed by all clubs.
