Warriors Perry Steps up as Acorns Ambassador

Worcester Warriors player, Shaun Perry, will being taking on his first task as official player ambassador for Acorns Children’s Hospice at the local derby versus Gloucester at Sixways on Saturday (September 15).

The scrum half is asking fans to put their local rivalry aside to support their local children’s hospice and raise funds to support life limited and life threatened children and their families across Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

“Fans of both teams can unite in getting behind fundraising for Acorns and making a real difference to families that face huge challenges,” said Perry.

Representatives from Acorns will be holding a bucket collection on the day as well as asking fans to donate from their mobile phone by texting WWRC12 £3 to 70070 (all £3 goes direct to the charity and there are no network charges).

Shaun will hold the role throughout the 2012/13 Premiership season during which he will help raise awareness for Acorns as well as providing support to fundraising initiatives including the annual charity match day against London Welsh on December 21.

Commenting on the role, Shaun added: “I’m privileged to be official player ambassador for such a great cause that is so important to everyone at Worcester Warriors.

“I’m looking forward to supporting the charity over the year and hope we can this season the biggest success to date.”

Shaun as already met children, families and staff at Acorns on several occasions and intends to become a regular visitor to the hospice, joining in a variety of activities alongside his team mates.

Elinor Eustace, corporate partnerships manager at Acorns, added: “We are thrilled that Shaun be supporting us in the role as official player ambassador for the charity.

“He has already demonstrated great enthusiasm and a real understanding of our work. We very much look forward to working with him.”
