Grove: We will deliver the right results

Centre Alex Grove has vowed Warriors will deliver the right results after last-gasp Aviva Premiership heartache against Bath and Gloucester.

Warriors are yet to record their first Aviva Premiership victory this season but have shown great promise and Grove admits that players are doing all they can to secure that all-important first win.

He said: “There’s been a lot of honest meetings since Saturday. Players have been brutal with each other when we’re reviewing games and there’s no hiding place for anyone. That is the only way we’re going to move forward.

“You can’t pass the buck. Players are taking ownership for their mistakes and that’s important.”

Grove acknowledged the significance of fans and believes that supporters will play a key role in ensuring the side pick-up their first win soon.

“It’s important that fans have the same belief as the players do. It’s great to share every win with supporters and we value their support when things aren’t going so well,” he added.

“It’s a great place to play rugby and we want to fill the stadium every time we play. The fans are frustrated but we urge them to stick with us, show the same faith they always do and we’ll do everything we can to deliver the results.”

Grove has been a key member of the Warriors side this season and scored a late try against Leicester Tigers earlier this month.

The back came through the club’s Academy system and has become a crowd-favourite due to his high work-rate and never-say-die attitude.

“It’s not about waiting for luck. It’s about driving each other day in, day out in training. If you work hard in training you’ll get the rewards at the weekend,” he added.

“It’s only a matter of time before we’re the ones winning matches with the last kick of the game.

“It’s the four points we want, not two for drawing or a bonus point for losing. We’ve got to go a step further and close these games out.”
