Big result around the corner according to Mullan

Warriors prop Matt Mullan believes that the tide is turning for Warriors after the remarkable end to the clash with Northampton Saints last weekend.

Warriors scored 28 points in the last 16 minutes as they battled their way to two bonus points and Mullan says the players are in a positive frame of mind.

“A change in form is just around the corner and if you look at how we've been playing we haven't been walked off the park by any stretch of the imagination,” he said.

“Obviously it has been frustrating to still be without a win but there's a great buzz around at the moment and you wouldn't think we were on the back of such a run if you were around the squad.

“We scored all those tries against the Saints at the weekend and that made it feel like a win, because we dug ourselves out of a hole and got two bonus points.”

Warriors welcomed England World Cup winner Phil Vickery to Sixways over the summer as he took up the position of Assistant Forwards Coach, and Mullan was quick to praise the impact Vickery has had.

He stated: “Having Phil around has been fantastic. You really feel everyone is listening to him when he speaks – he tells you something and it has extra resonance just because of who he is and what he's achieved in the game.

“He's taken different people aside for a talk and they're really helpful, usually a chat about a small technical point you hadn't thought about but actually makes a huge difference.

“It's the little things he's getting us to think about and that's really important.”

Warriors will be looking for their first win against London Irish at Sixways on Friday night and Mullan recognises the importance of finishing teams off when a lead has been established.

He added: “If you look at our season so far we've clearly been lacking in composure and finishing teams off so we need to change that.

“The guys on the bench are itching to get on the field and help us do that and I think that will be invaluable for us as the season goes on.”
