Kvesic fired up for Friday night encounter

Back row Matt Kvesic admits the Warriors are relishing the return of Aviva Premiership rugby under the lights at Sixways this Friday night.

After two weeks of record-breaking European action, Warriors are back in the intense and unforgiving world of Aviva Premiership rugby as we entertain Sale Sharks (kick-off 8pm).

And Kvesic has acknowledged how much of an advantage it can be for Warriors to play on a Friday night under the lights.

“These Friday night games are the ones I really look forward to playing in,” he admitted.

“There are always a lot of fans here, they get right behind you and it’s a great atmosphere to play in.

“We know it’s vitally important to win and hopefully it will all come together for us.

“If we can get that victory, it will take a little bit of pressure off us as it will open up a big gap and we can focus on chasing the teams above us.”

Sharks recorded a first win this term when they battled back to beat Cardiff Blues in their opening Heineken Cup clash. After trailing 24-12 at the break, Sharks produced a sensational comeback to win by a point.

The comeback was inspired by former England fly half Danny Cipriani, who came off the bench to score a try and, according to Kvesic, Sale will come to Sixways with a lot of spirit.

He added: “I’m sure Sale will come thinking they can win. They will have a positive frame of mind following their first win and it is up to us to put in a big performance.

“Out on the Sixways pitch, we are a tough team to beat. If our defence functions like it can and our attack play comes together like we’ve seen in the last two games, I think we can get the right result.”
