Warriors fly half Andy Goode believes the side have momentum going into this weekend’s clash at Exeter Chiefs after picking up four wins in their last five matches.
Warriors battled to victory over Sale Sharks on Friday night and they have also recorded wins over London Irish, Bizkaia Gernika and Femi-CZ VEA Rovigo in the last month. And according to Goode, Warriors are in confident mood ahead of their trip to Sandy Park.
He said: “We’ve put a good run together and, apart from our defeat at London Wasps, we’ve been winning matches.
“It was a massive win for us against Sale Sharks on Friday night. Although we didn’t play our best rugby, we still got the four points and the players put in a huge effort.
“It is a big game for us on Saturday at Exeter. They’ve won every league game at home this season, so it shows how tough it is to go to Sandy Park.”
Exeter currently sit one place and one point ahead of Warriors in the Aviva Premiership table with three wins in seven outings.
But it is their home form which has received the plaudits so far this term with Harlequins, Saracens and Sale leaving Sandy Park with just one point between them.
“Exeter can beat anyone at home on their day. But if we can improve our line-out, our ball control and our discipline we’ll give them a good game on Saturday,” continued Goode.
“We could have won there last year. A few things went against us and that probably changed the outcome of the game. We came away with a bonus point in the end so hopefully on Saturday we can go one step further and get a victory.”
Goode was in scoring form on Friday night as he racked-up 18 points, a tally which included his first try of the season.
He added: “Paul Hodgson put me in off the back of a great line-out drive again from the forwards. I don’t usually get too close to rucks and mauls but I will if it means I get a few tries.
“David’s try was unbelievable. He’s beaten five players to score and it shows how important wingers like him are to a team. I’ve been up against him in training and he is hardest man in the squad to tackle.”
