Milestone duo dreaming of European glory

Warriors forwards Matt Kvesic and Ed Shervington are hoping a win against Perpignan tonight will set them on their way to the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

Both players are set to make their 50th appearance for the club in tonight’s clash and, according to Kvesic, it will be another big night at Sixways.

He said: “It’s a big game for us because we want to try and secure a place in the quarter-finals so I’m really looking forward to it.

“It will be amazing to make my 50th appearance tonight. The coaches have shown a lot of faith in me and I am thankful for that.

“I’m pleased with how I’ve progressed in the last couple of years and I want to try and build on that.”

Perpignan, who finished runners-up in the Heineken Cup in 2003, have a string of internationals in their squad and Kvesic believes tonight’s visitors will be one of the strongest sides fans see at Sixways this season.

He added: “They’re not doing too well in the league but they will be strong and physical and the scrum will be a big area. It is a huge test for us.”

Hooker Shervington is set to make his seventh start of the season as he reaches the half century milestone and he is targeting another European victory tonight.

He stated: “I’m really happy to hit the milestone. I love the club, the players and the coaches so it’s a big moment for me. It has gone quickly and I’ve enjoyed it. I’m really happy with the way things are going.

“Perpignan will have a big forward pack and it will be a big test for us. It will be a scrappy affair but we’re going to give it all we’ve got and hopefully that will be too much for them and we’ll get a victory.”
