Howard focusing on Under 20 Six Nations campaign

Ben Howard says he can’t wait for the Under 20s Six Nations to begin after spending last week preparing for the competition with the England squad.

The wing is part of Head Coach Rob Hunter’s 32-man squad, which will look to defend their Under 20s Six Nations title over the next two months.

After scoring a sensational solo effort in Warriors’ victory over Bizkaia Gernika RT on Saturday, the youngster is now turning his attention to the upcoming international fixtures.

He said: “Our mind is focused on the Six Nations and the task in hand. I feel I have something to offer the team and hopefully I will do enough in training to get a starting place.

“I was away with the squad last week, which was really good. You find you are at the front of the team more and can work on your skills. I have just got to push for a starting spot for the Six Nations.

England Under 20s open their Six Nations campaign against Scotland on February 1 before facing Ireland a week later.

Hunter's side then face France at Sixways Stadium and Howard admits he is already excited at the propect of playing in front of his home crowd.

He continued: “The game here at Sixways will be amazing and it is certainly the one I am looking forward to the most.

“I’ve had my eye on that game since it was announced and I’ll be doing all I can to make an impression in the games leading up to that. It will definitely be a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

“To play for your country in front of your home crowd would be a dream-come-true and the home support always gives you an extra boost.”

Tickets are now available for the match on Saturday 23 February by calling the Warriors Box Office on 01905 454183 or by clicking here.
