Percival looking forward to Friday night lights

James Percival admits he is looking forward to playing under the floodlights against London Wasps as Friday night rugby returns to Sixways tomorrow.

Warriors have played five Friday night Aviva Premiership matches this season, recording wins against London Irish, Sale Sharks, Saracens and London Welsh.

And, according to Percival, the players will be aiming for another big performance when Dai Young’s men visit tomorrow.

He said: “I absolutely love Friday night games. If I could play every game on a Friday night at Worcester I would.

“The atmosphere is always special as the weekend has begun and people are coming straight from work.”

Wasps enjoyed an impressive mid-season winning run as they won five consecutive games, including victory over Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop earlier the month.

London Irish brought their sequence to an end at the Madejski Stadium last Sunday with a 30-19 win and Percival believes Wasps will be looking to bounce back tomorrow.

He continued: “When a team’s winning run comes to an end they always come back even harder in the next game.

“But if we can take our performance from Gloucester into this match and focus on how we play, we will get a positive result.”

Percival has been a key player for Richard Hill’s side this season and has played every minute of Aviva Premiership action.

But the 29-year-old says that his main concern is how well the team do. He added: “I never finish a game of rugby and think I’ve had a good game.

“I just want to play well for the club and I give everything I’ve got. As long as the team does well and we get some more wins, then that’s all that matters. It’s all about Worcester for me.”

James Percival talks exclusively to the matchday programme ahead of tomorrow’s clash. Programmes will be available around the ground from 6pm priced at £3.

Fans can see all their usual favourite features including In the Dressing Room with Euan Murray, Ask Danny Gray and the Player Quiz, which sees Andy Goode and Alex Grove go head-to-head.
