Draw confirmed for 2013 JP Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s

Premiership Rugby have today confirmed the draw for the 2013 J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Series.

Worcester Warriors will kick-off the series in Pool A on Thursday 1 August alongside Gloucester Rugby, Bath Rugby and Exeter Chiefs.

The series will culminate in another high-octane final at Bath’s Recreation Ground on Friday 9 August.

Former England international, World Cup winner and J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s ambassador Will Greenwood is relishing the start of the series.

He said: “It’s a great evening of summer rugby, a show case of the exceptional young talent who are coming through the Premiership ranks.

“There’s no space to hide in this game and the J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s series offers a fantastic platform to develop their skills, their fitness and their taste of playing for their club on a big stage. It’s a cracking night of entertainment and fast flowing rugby and I for one can’t wait to get down to see all the action.”

The 2013 J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Series is split into three qualifying legs, and a final, contested by all 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs. It is the only Sevens event where you can watch the Aviva Premiership Rugby sides battle against one another.

On Friday 2 August Pool B features Northampton Saints, Leicester Tigers, London Welsh, and Sale Sharks at Franklin’s Gardens.

Completing the pool stages on Saturday 3 August at Saracens’ Allianz Park are Harlequins, holders London Irish and London Wasps, who will take on the hosts for a place in the final in Pool C.

The three pool stages and the final will be the first rugby union covered live on the new BT Sport channels. Former England captain Lawrence Dallaglio has signed with BT Sport to become its leading rugby union expert and he can’t wait for the new J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Series to kick off.

Back in 1993 Dallaglio was a member of the successful England team that won the Sevens World Cup at Murrayfield.

He said: “I loved my time playing Sevens so fully understand how important it can be in the development of young players, the J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Series has established itself in the rugby calendar and I expect the 2013 event to be a great showcase for Sevens.

“Rugby’s admission into the Olympic Games, in Rio in 2016, will take the sport on to a new level and increase its global appeal.”
