Hayes looking forward to future at Sixways

Ollie Hayes admits he is looking forward to his Sixways future after signing a new contract with Warriors.

The 22-year-old committed his future to the club today and says he has now turned his attention to getting as much Aviva Premiership game time as possible.

He said: “I’m delighted to sign a new contract. I’ve been here for two years and a new contract is the best thing that could have happened.

“I will continue to work hard and hopefully that will lead to more game time. I’ve learnt a lot this year and it will be good to show the supporters what I can do.”

Hayes joined Warriors from Bristol in 2011 and has made 14 appearances for the club. Earlier this season he came off the bench to score a bonus-point try as Warriors staged a late comeback at Northampton Saints.

And he believes his first-team experience has helped him develop into a better player over the last 12 months.

He continued: “Being on the bench and getting Premiership experience this season has helped me to mature as a player.

“The coaching and facilities are first-class here so those have aided my development as well.”

With fellow hooker Agustin Creevy set to join the club next season, Hayes is excited about the depth of quality Warriors will possess at number two.

He stated: “I’ve learnt a lot from Ed Shervington and Aleki Lutui in the last two years and I will learn from Agustin when he arrives.

“To have players of that quality at the club can only be a good thing and it is an exciting time to be a Warriors player at the moment.”

Hayes, who grew up in Bath, is due to become a father later this year and admits he can’t wait to start a family in Worcester.

He added: “My partner has moved up here and we’re both really happy. The baby is due in August, just in time for the start of the season.

“We’ve come up with a rota for the night times and apparently I’m allowed to sleep in the spare room if I have a match. But when I have time off I'll be doing more than my fair share of baby duties!”
