Hill targets tries during end-of-season run-in

Richard Hill has challenged his side to rack-up the tries during the end-of-season run-in as he looks to develop the attacking rugby he has implemented this season.

Warriors have crossed the tryline 26 times this campaign and the Head Coach believes the last five games will provide his side with the perfect opportunity to showcase their attacking game.

He said: “The players know they’ve progressed with their attacking game this season and these last five games are an opportunity to push on, get even better and score as many tries as we possibly can.

“We’re happy with the way we’re playing at the moment in terms of our attacking game and we’re scoring tries.”

Warriors claimed their third try bonus point of the season last time out as they stormed to victory at Sixways over high-flying London Wasps.

After an enthralling end-to-end match of seven tries, Hill said he was pleased that every player was buying into the attacking mentality.

He continued: “In the lead-up to Chris Pennell’s try, we went through multi-phases, where 13 players touched the ball.

“That epitomises the way we’ve been trying to play as every player is confident of handling the ball. And that is a culmination of all the work we’ve done.

“So we’re definitely making progress and I’m happy with the progress we’re making.”

With the ground expected to dry out over the coming weeks as summer approaches, Hill also thinks the improved conditions will suit Warriors’ style of play.

He added: “I’ve noticed the side we’ve developed plays better on hard ground. In the past that hasn’t always been the case but we definitely prefer firmer ground now.

“So we’re looking forward to three firm tracks at the Madejski Stadium, Allianz Park and the Kassam Stadium. And we’re looking forward to showing people what we can do.”
