New Warriors sausage a sizzling sensation

Over the past two matches, supporters have been suggesting and tasting potential flavours for the new Official Warriors Sausage.

The tasting sessions have been hosted in the South East Food Village by Teme Vale Victuallers, who supply all of the Warriors burgers, sausages and faggots on matchdays.

Supporters have had the opportunity to taste a variety of sausages and then suggest a unique flavour combination.

The most popular flavours, as suggested by our supporters, were then created and available to taste and vote for at the Exeter match.

Over a thousand samples were tasted in the vote to decide. The winning sausage flavour was suggested by a mystery Warriors supporter.

Chrys Titshall, Managing Director and Founder of Teme Vale explained: “One of the young ladies helping on the first tasting event was talking a supporter through the various flavours we had for sampling that evening.

“She heard a gentleman behind her say it would be great to have a sausage that had a similar combination of flavours as sweet cured smoked ham.

“She made a quick note on an entry form and when she finished dealing with the first enquiry looked around for the person who had made the suggestion but he had gone.”

The idea seemed too good to drop and with a little development made it onto the shortlist for the taste-off. It received 41 per cent of the overall vote, more than one and a half times that of its closest rival.

The “Sweet and Smokie” combines prime pork cuts with Worcester’s favourite fruit – pears.

The sausage skins are lightly smoked to give that hint of extra flavour. The sausage will be available for all supporters to buy at Saturday’s match against Harlequins and for all future matchdays in the Warriors Scrum Club and also the South East Food Village Kiosk.

Teme Vale Victuallers will also be selling the new sausage in the South East Food Village for supporters to take home and enjoy, along with some of their other award-winning produce.

Lawson Shuttleworth, Warriors Executive Chef commented: “We are really pleased we have been able to get our supporters to participate and ultimately choose the Official Warriors Sausage.

“We are always striving to add to our food offering with new products and it is fantastic we can work with Teme Vale, a local company who have won numerous national and regional awards for outstanding quality.”

Chrys Titshall added: “We are very proud of our association with the Warriors, and look forward to the “Sweet and Smokie” becoming a feature of the Sixways experience, enjoyed by both home and away supporters in equal measure.”
