Malvern College training perfect preparation – Arr

Jonny Arr believes that the tough pre-season campaign at Malvern College has prepared the players well ahead of the new season.

Arr and his teammates returned to Sixways this morning after spending the first six weeks of pre-season undergoing an extensive training programme at Malvern College.

And the scrum-half was full of praise for the college’s first-class facilities. He said: “The facilities were absolutely fantastic. We had full use of the pool, the gym and the pitches so everything we needed was there.

“For me it’s nice to go somewhere new and see different faces and just train in a completely different environment.

“All the new and old players were in the same boat and it has helped to break pre-season up a bit so it was the perfect preparation.

“It’s good to be back at Sixways now and we can put in even more hard work in familiar surroundings before the season begins.”

With 127 appearances to his name, Arr has played more games for Warriors than anyone in the current squad.

But with Paul Hodgson impressing last season and Jeremy Su’a set to arrive at the club this summer, Arr admits he is relishing the battle for the number nine shirt come September.

He added: “It wouldn’t be a good place to be if there wasn’t any competition and I’ll go into it as I go into every season. It’s a fresh start and you’ve got to work hard to get yourself on the team sheet.

“A lot of exciting coaches have come in and they are really challenging us so hopefully everything they are putting across will become second nature to us.”
