There will be excitement around Sixways before tomorrow’s game with London Irish even kicks-off as we launch our brand new Warriors War Cry and music video.
Our new anthem will be unveiled on the big screen at 2.45pm after the finishing touches were completed earlier this week.
The Warriors War Cry was born when the club teamed up with successful local composer Andrew Kristy in a bid to create an inspiring club anthem and chant for the new campaign.
Supporters sent us their ideas for lyrics and the best suggestions have been used as part of the chant.
Last month we started filming the music video around Worcester and were delighted when supporters joined us to star in it.
The video tells the story of a young fan who wakes up to find Maximus outside his window and the duo walk through Worcester town centre, where they are joined by a host of fans.
They video culminates in everyone arriving at Sixways – so tune in at 2.45pm to see how the story ends!
As well as fans and our mascot Maximus, the video also features Warriors players, staff and chairman Cecil Duckworth.
Warriors Chief Executive Charles Cameron said: “We are delighted that our supporters have reacted so positively to our new anthem.
“We received lyric suggestions from many fans and were really pleased they came out in force when we were filming the video. Thank you to everyone who played a role.
“We hope that fans will sing the chorus in the stands to spur the players on throughout this campaign.”
The song’s creator Mr Kristy, has years of experience as a composer and has previously had work credited on BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Radio 1.
He will be live on BBC Hereford & Worcester at 4.30pm this afternoon to talk about the War Cry. Listeners will also be able to hear a clip of the anthem – so tune in and see what you think!
Mr Kristy added: “The stars have really aligned themselves for this project! Given the compact time-scale, everything has fallen into place remarkably well.
“Personally I am very pleased with the finished track – its power comes from everyone involved putting in their own passion and inspiration.
“My sincere thanks goes to all who have joined me on this journey to create Worcester Warriors’ new anthem.
“Now it's time for the fans to dust off their voices and raise the roof. Over to you – sing and enjoy!”
