Warriors legends back to have their say

Warriors have cut ticket prices for Friday’s clash with Bath Rugby as the club aim to fill Sixways with passionate fans to inspire Dean Ryan’s men.

And following the announcement, we spoke to four Warriors legends, who told us about their memories of playing at Sixways.

Club centurions Craig Gillies, Matt Powell, Tevita Taumoepeau and Tony Windo gave us an insight of how it felt to play in front of a packed Sixways.

And you can read full interviews with all four of them in a special edition of our matchday programme, which is available this Friday for £3.

Both Gillies and Windo recall Warriors’ 27-24 victory over London Wasps in November 2004.

Gillies said: “Wasps was a memorable match. They were going well in the Premiership and in Europe but when they came to Sixways we had rocked them by half-time.

“They were in trouble and turned to their bench of stars but it was too little, too late and we ran in four tries.”

Windo added: “It was a real nail-biter against Wasps and we pipped them at the death. It was a huge win for the club at the time.”

Taumoepeau is a cult hero at Sixways and made 181 appearances for the club before hanging up his boots.

He continued: “I’ve played all over the world but for me the best atmosphere was at Warriors where the supporters were very vocal.

“It is amazing to play in front over more than 12,000 people and I still remember a lot of games, especially where the fans gave us a big lift.”

Powell added: “Getting a packed house is massively important to the players. From a player’s perspective, you can’t underestimate how much of an advantage the home crowd give you.”

Season Ticket holders will be able to buy extra seats anywhere in the stadium for £12.50 for Friday's match while non-Season Ticket holders can secure their place for £17.50. Junior supporters can watch the match for £5.

Tickets are available for the match by clicking here, calling 01905 459309 or visiting the Warriors Box Office at Sixways.
