Dean Ryan admits he was pleased with Warriors’ committed second-half response against a rampant Saracens side.
The league leaders secured a bonus-point courtesy of four tries after half an hour on a cold day at Sixways.
But despite the game effectively running away from Worcester, Ryan says he was delighted with his players’ performance after the break.
He said: “Saracens showed against Leicester that if they get a start, they can do a lot of damage. But we put a lot of pressure on a really good side who have a lot of great players.
“We didn’t only stay in the contest but we put them under immense pressure in the second-half.
“Considering the pace and power they have, we showed that we could take things to them.”
Warriors dominated the majority of the second period as they looked to reduce the deficit. And Ryan says he was impressed that players didn’t let their heads drop.
He added: “We talked at half-time and said we needed to make changes but had to face the fact that we were up against a physical, precise and accurate side.
“They were everything we had talked about before for the game. So the way we responded was great.
“It wasn’t about going and finding something else. It was about hitting the challenge head-on and doing jobs accurately. We pulled one of the best defences in the league around and that is a credit to us.”
Warriors face a tough challenge in the New Year as they look to pick-up some important wins. But, according to Ryan, his side could not be better placed to turn their season around.
He concluded: “I feel we are in the best place we could be to face the challenge that the New Year will provide.
“That’s six weeks on the bounce now where we have been competitive against some top sides.
“We’re not losing our way. We’re learning, we’re getting better and we are gaining some confidence.”
