Ryan – Players feel good after victory

Dean Ryan says Saturday’s victory over Oyonnax has made the players feel good about themselves.

Warriors saw off their French opponents in their final Amlin Challenge Cup game of the season after a determined performance at Sixways.

And according to the Warriors Director of Rugby, the win has provided his side with a huge boost.

He said: “All the positives of the performance are there irrespective of the result but the win makes the lads feel good about themselves.

“I’m happy and the changing room is buzzing. Every player was in there after the match and they needed this. They’ve worked really hard and that was rewarded today.”

The Warriors forward pack dominated their French opponents as the hosts eventually won the game 20-13.

And Ryan says he was proud of his side in difficult conditions at Sixways.

He continued: “Oyonnax came here and you know they’re going to be big and take you on at the set-piece.

“They’ve got some big players so you hope for a bit of dry ground but it wasn’t and that meant we had to take them on up front. So I’m delighted we fronted up to that challenge.”

The Warriors squad will now travel to Portugal for a gruelling training camp in preparation for the challenge of climbing off the foot of the Aviva Premiership table.

And Ryan believes the camp will put his side in an ideal place for the challenge ahead.

He added: “The players will work hard in Portugal and we will improve our fitness and aspects of our game.

“We’ll be in a different environment and it will be the perfect preparation for the rest of the season.”
