Under 15s and Under 16s taste success

Warriors Under 15s and Under 16s were both in action last week with both sides tasting victory.

The Under 15s played Saracens on Friday 21 February at Broad Street Rugby Club in Coventry and despite having a small squad, they won the game 27-10.

Nick David, Jules Hobbs, Reece Carlton, Tom Warrington and Dion King all notched tries in the win.

Academy Manager Mark Hewitt said: “The boys were extremely good at the breakdown. Despite the scoreline, the team had long spells of pressure against them and defended remarkably, only conceding two interception tries.”

The Under 16s played immediately after against Saracens, also conjuring victory, 20-19.

Ben Fowles, Josh Nott and Seb Dean-Smith all crossed the whitewash, with a conversion and a drop-goal from Ollie Allsopp.

Hewitt admitted: “It was a very tight affair and a very good contest throughout. All the boys dug in deep and they were losing in the last minute only to go the length of the field to secure victory.”

The Under 15s also played Harlequins on Wednesday 19 February at Surrey Sports Park, where they used 34 players, including six of whom that were a year young.

They narrowly lost 22-21 in the last play of the game despite tries from Carlton, Ted Hill and a penalty try, whilst Joe Hunt and Rhys Arthur slotted conversions.

Hewitt added: “I’m very proud of the boys especially the six Under 14s who conducted themselves against a very physical Quins side.”

This Saturday 1 March sees Warriors Under 17s take on the Netherlands at Malvern Rugby Club (11am kick-off). People are welcome to watch the match for free.
