Ryan – Victory has given us life

Dean Ryan believes Sunday’s victory over Newcastle Falcons has injected life into his side as they battle to beat the drop from the Aviva Premiership.

Warriors cut the deficit at the bottom of the table to nine points after claiming a 17-12 victory at Kingston Park.

And, according to Ryan, his side will continue to fight and build on their first league win in over a year.

He said: “We always said if we could get a win it would change things. And this result gives us life.

“We always knew we had to win against Newcastle. We have to win again, get a bonus point and take it to the last weekend of the season.

“I’m just really pleased for the players. They’ve had a couple of rough rides in recent weeks. We’ve been tight as a team for months and they haven’t disintegrated.”

Warriors brought two coachloads of supporters to Kingston Park to witness the club’s most important game of the season.

And Ryan was quick to pay tribute to the travelling support. He added: “It’s brilliant to see the fans come here.

We’re a tough side to support sometimes but we are really thankful for the support we get.

“It’s tough when we’re going through the changes we’re going through but I hope they get the same fix that we do by seeing what’s happening and how strong this group can be as a team.

“We’re not pretending we’re a top-six side but we’ve become a pretty strong group and that’s the first place for us starting to move forward.”
