Andy Symons admits it feels like a weight has been lifted after Warriors produced their first Aviva Premiership win of the season away at Newcastle Falcons.
The 17-12 win gives Warriors a chance of escaping relegation after they closed the gap to nine points between them and the Falcons, with four games remaining this season.
And Symons said: “I just feel incredibly relieved. There has been quite a lot of pressure over the last few weeks and everyone is delighted to finally get that win.
“It’s a sense of all the hard work eventually paying off. It feels like a weight has been lifted and hopefully we can crack on from here.”
The giant centre produced a moment of brilliance to set-up Josh Drauniniu for the only try of the game late in the second-half.
But he admitted he was nervous when he came off the bench to help guide his team to victory.
He continued: “This week and last week I was actually quite nervous coming off the bench but as soon as I stepped on the field I felt a lot calmer.
“The try was a bit of a blur to be honest. I saw there was an opportunity and after hitting the gap I was losing my feet a little bit towards the end.
“I heard calls from behind and I was almost treading water as I was bearing down on the line but Josh ran a good line off me and it made it pretty easy.”
The 22-year-old also paid tribute to the Warriors support who made the long trip north.
He added: “I’m really pleased for every one of us – from the players to the coaches – and the fans that came all the way up here from Sixways.
“We’ve shown in the last few weeks that we are capable of challenging the top sides. Now we have to believe we can go and win any game if we are to avoid the drop.”
