Davies delighted with perfect kicking display

Elliott Davies admits he was delighted with his kicking display during Cavaliers’ victory over the Navy on Wednesday night.

Davies converted all eight tries for his side as the Cavaliers cruised to a 56-24 win on a warm evening at Sixways.

He said: “The tries gave me a chance to score a few conversions and I was delighted I managed to get them all.

“It’s a big confidence boost to kick all my conversions but credit should also go to the players who ran in the tries.

“We had an opportunity to play some real running rugby in perfect conditions and we took advantage of that, especially in the first-half.

“Josh Watkins’ pace on the wing was difficult for the Navy to deal with and Max Stelling in the centre was fantastic.”

Davies made his first-team debut against Sale Sharks in January and is just one of many talented youngsters at the club hoping to break into the Warriors side in the next couple of years.

Fellow Academy players Jack Cosgrove, George de Cothi and Watkins have all been given their first taste of first-team action this season.

And Davies insists Sixways is the perfect destination for any young player.

He added: “There is no better place for a young player to play their rugby because Dean Ryan is prepared to give people a chance.

“The coaching set-up is excellent here and I feel my game has improved a lot this season.

“I came straight from school last year and didn’t really know what to expect but I’ve really enjoyed it.

“Sam Vesty has helped me massively with my kicking. The more I practise, the more consistent my kicking is becoming and hopefully that will continue to be the case.”
