Warriors announce signing of Bath wing Biggs

Worcester Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of Bath Rugby wing Tom Biggs.

The 29-year-old, who has represented England at Under 21, Sevens and Saxons levels, will move to Sixways this summer as Director of Rugby Dean Ryan continues to build for the long-term.

The experienced wing has scored 32 tries in 127 Premiership appearances during spells with Leeds Carnegie, Newcastle Falcons and Bath Rugby.

Biggs made his Leeds debut in 2004 and was part of the side which claimed victory in the Powergen Cup Final at Twickenham in 2005.

After becoming the Yorkshire club’s all-time leading try scorer with 51 tries, Biggs moved to Newcastle in 2009, before joining Bath the following summer.

A regular for Bath during his time in the West Country, Biggs was the club’s top try scorer during the 2011/12 campaign and was also named Supporters’ Player of the Year.

Biggs said: “I am excited about the challenge of joining Worcester. They are a very ambitious club but have not reached where they have wanted to be over recent seasons and I want to play a part in helping them achieve success.

“I am looking forward to working with Carl Hogg again who I worked with at Leeds and with my ex-Bath teammate Sam Vesty.

“When I met with Dean he was very honest about where the club were and where he wants to take it. He is also a fellow Staffordshire bull terrier owner and that was a deal breaker.”

Dean Ryan said: “Tom is an exciting player who has the ability to demonstrate flashes of brilliance and change the outcome of any match.

“He has been a consistent Premiership performer for a decade and when he became available to sign, it was an easy decision to make.

“His presence amongst our emerging backline will be invaluable to us next season, as will his experience of playing in a successful environment.”
