Cosgrove helps Scotland Under 20s beat Italy

Warriors Academy prop Jack Cosgrove started for Scotland Under 20s in their first win of the IRB Junior World Championship in New Zealand on Sunday.

The loosehead played 64 minutes of a tight encounter with Italy which Scotland edged 21-18 at the ECOLight Stadium in Pukehoke.

Italy’s Filippo Buscema had a penalty in the final minute of the match to draw the sides level but couldn’t dissect the posts and Scotland held on for victory.

Cosgrove has featured in all four of Scotland’s matches in the tournament so far, starting in three of them.

Scotland’s last game of the tournament is against Argentina in the 9th Place Playoff at the QBE Stadium in North Harbour on Friday 20 June.

Cosgrove, 19, was one of seven Warriors Academy players to make their first-team debuts last season, when he came on against Sale Sharks in the LV= Cup and was also a regular for Worcester Cavaliers.
