Cosgrove features in Scotland finale

Jack Cosgrove came off the bench for Scotland Under 20s but couldn’t prevent his side from a 41-21 defeat to Argentina in the IRB Junior World Championship 9th Place Playoff.

The loosehead came on just after the hour mark in the clash at the QBE Stadium in North Harbour, New Zealand.

Cosgrove featured in all five of Scotland’s matches in the tournament, starting in three of them.

He said: “It has been a fantastic experience playing in New Zealand against the best players in my age group.

“Playing for my country is a privilege and I have gained a lot of confidence after playing in all of the games.”

The 19-year-old was one of seven Warriors Academy players to make their first-team debuts last season, when he came on against Sale Sharks in the LV= Cup and was also a regular for Worcester Cavaliers.

He added: “It’s great to test yourself against really tough opposition and hopefully I can take what I have learnt from this experience back with me to Sixways for pre-season.

“The next step from here is to try and get myself some games for Warriors and I can’t wait to get back.”
