Warriors Under 15s and 16s defeat Northampton

Warriors Under 15s and 16s both romped to victory against Northampton Saints last Friday at Malvern College.

The Under 15s produced a fine attacking display to thump Saints 48-14 while the Under 16s defended resiliently as well as tallying four tries to see-off their opponents 22-0.

For the Under 16s, Alex Hearle, Charlie Wright, Dion King and Isaac Blake-Mills ran-in tries to secure a comfortable win.

Warriors Outreach Co-ordinator Dan Lyne said: “It was a top performance from the youngsters who really showed physicality.

“The boys defended superbly to deny a talented Northampton side a single score and that just goes to show how well they played.”

Meanwhile, the Under 15s crossed the whitewash eight times in an emphatic victory.

Alex Bartley, Declan Mee and Olly Thorneywork all notched a brace, with Tom Williams and Will Tanner also scoring.

Lyne added: “The boys displayed some superb off-loading and the enthusiasm and willingness to play by every one of them was evident.

“For most of the boys it was their first game for Warriors after the first jump up from the Development Player Pathways (DPP) into the Under 15 Development Group and they really stepped up to the occasion.

“A huge amount of credit needs to go to each of the coaches running the DPP centres and the District Unions who have helped these boys make the transition.”
