Annett and Arr inspire youngsters in Academy Educational Programme

First-team stars Jonny Arr and Niall Annett gave talks to the Under 16 squad last week as the Warriors Academy launched the new educational programme.

The pair spoke to the youngsters about the importance of junior players balancing their education and rugby.

The talk was part of Warriors’ continued commitment to support Academy players to achieve their academic potential as well as their rugby goals.

With only the very best young players carving out a career in professional rugby, Warriors continue to recognise the importance of providing players with high-quality educational support to complement school and college work.

Even players who reach a professional level within the sport must plan for a future career following retirement, whenever that comes.

Academy Manager Mark Hewitt said: “It was a great evening. Having two first-team players share two very different accounts from their personal experiences of balancing education and rugby will have given the boys an insight into the reality of professional sport.”

Under 16 player Lawrence Weston said: “It is good to know that the Academy is supporting us with our educational development during this critical GCSE year.”

Teammate Beck Cutting continued: “We have brilliant rugby coaching at the Academy and it is good to know that the regular reviews will take account of our educational development too.”

Fellow youngster Ted Hill added: “It was a great evening and the senior Warriors players were clear that getting a good education will improve our personal skills which will also improve our rugby.”
