Championship XV – Full-Back & Wingers

This week, we’ll update you with all the players that will be on show for the Championship XV ahead of this Sunday’s clash with Rugby World Cup side Canada at Sixways (kick-off 3.15pm).

Here are your full-backs and wingers for Sunday's match:

FULL-BACK

JACK TOVEY (Bristol Rugby)

Full-back Jack Tovey joined Bristol Rugby in 2009, graduating through the ranks into the first team.

A composed defender and expansive runner, Tovey’s displays in the blue and white hoops have made him one of the strongest performers in the Greene King IPA Championship.

Since making his Bristol debut in the 2009/10 season, Tovey has gone on to make 105 appearances for the club and has bagged 19 tries.

WINGERS

MICHAEL KEATING (Rotherham Titans)

Former Leinster winger Michael Keating has impressed greatly for Rotherham Titans since his arrival at Clifton Lane in 2013.

Keating joined the Titans from South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Knights where he hit the ground running for Rotherham last season as he topped their Championship try-scoring charts with ten dot-downs.

Still only 25, Keating has plenty of experience under his belt. In his 32 appearances for the Titans he’s crossed the whitewash on 13 occasions.

Keating’s ability to join the line at pace, combined with his great footwork, make him a real threat for opposition defences.

His capability to break out of tight situations to score tries has earned him the tag ‘magic man’ at Clifton Lane.

MILES MANTELLA (London Scottish)

Winger Miles Mantella joined London Scottish permanently ahead of the 2013/14 season, having spent the previous year at the club on a dual registration agreement from his parent club Harlequins.

In his first year at Scottish, he scored seven Championship tries, earning himself a place in the league’s top ten but the following season he took his game to a new level, crossing the tryline 19 times in 23 matches – making him the Championship's leading tryscorer in the 2013/14 campaign.

He signed a new two-year contract at the end of the 2013/14 season and made his 50th appearance for London Scottish against Pontypridd earlier this season.

DOUGIE FLOCKHART (Doncaster Knights)

Doncaster Knights winger and Strength and Conditioning Coach Dougie Flockhart, had a remarkable 2013/14 season returning as the Knights’ topscorer with a haul of 237 points.

Flockhart’s sharp shooting in addition to his ten tries made him an integral part of the team.

Flockhart has played for Scotland A and Scotland Under 21s as well as representing his country in rugby league.

After passing the 100-appearance milestone for Doncaster last term, he is now heading into his sixth season at Castle Park.
