Hogg targeting success in two competitions

Carl Hogg admits the Warriors squad are focused on continuing their successful runs in both the B&I Cup and Aviva A League.

Warriors can secure a home B&I Cup quarter-final with victory over Nottingham on Saturday and will also cement their place in the Aviva A League semi-finals should they see off table-toppers Newcastle on Monday evening.

And with the Sixways crowd set to witness two important clashes over the next week, Hogg has challenged his players to get both jobs done.

He said: “We’d love to win against Nottingham on Saturday and get a home quarter-final. That’s really key for us as we have ambition in the cup competition.

“We’ve also got a vital Cavaliers fixture on Monday night which again can push us forward to qualification to the play-off stages of the Aviva A League. We want to keep both competitions live going into the New Year.”

Warriors are set to name a strong side for their clash with Nottingham, with the likes of Chris Pennell and Jonathan Thomas both set to feature once again.

And there will also be a place in the squad for Argentinian duo Agustin Creevy and Leonardo Senatore following their return from international duty.

Hogg added: “We’ve got an opportunity on Saturday to mix it up and some of the more senior players will come back into the group.

“It’s always about challenging in the next game and they will have a chance to raise the bar.

“We were delighted to welcome Gus and Leo back and they’ll feature as well. It’s like having two new players
back on deck and it’s essential we integrate them into the group.

“But we also have to be respectful to the people who have played prior to their arrival and it’s really key we get the balance with that.”
