Pennell helps Saxons to win in Ireland

Chris Pennell played a full 80 minutes for England Saxons on Friday night and helped his country battle to an impressive 18-9 win over Ireland Wolfhounds in Cork.

The Warriors full-back was named as Sky Sports man-of-the-match after his performance as the second-string England side produced a try in each half to secure the win.

Fly-half Henry Slade crossed the whitewash in the first period while also adding two penalties as the visitors went in at the break with an 11-3 lead.

And despite a valiant fightback from the hosts who reduced the score to 11-9 thanks to three penalties from Ian Madigan, Christian Wade skipped his way through the Ireland defence late on with Slade adding the extras to secure the win.

Next weekend the RBS Six Nations start with England up against Wales on Friday night.
