Report – Warriors U18 24-12 North of England U18

Warriors’ very young Under 18 side fought to a comfortable 24-12 victory over a North of England outfit at Ellesmere College, Shropshire on Sunday.

Nineteen of the 23 in the Warriors squad were from lower age-groups, including two players in Ted Hill and Bec Cutting just 15 years of age, who fronted up against a competitive North of England side comprising players from clubs such as Yorkshire Carnegie, Sale Sharks and Newcastle Falcons.

Warriors got off the mark following a driving lineout with scrum-half Josh Nott scoring from a quick-tap penalty and Jamie Shilcock soon added a second after being put away by Ben Davies-Moore.

Shilcock nailed one of his two conversions to give Warriors a 12-5 half-time lead and the hosts dominated the second period with Hill running in from 40 metres to score in the corner on his debut.

Zac Xiourouppa added a fourth with Shilcock knocking over a second conversion to round-off proceedings for Warriors.

Academy Manager Mark Hewitt said: “It was a great performance from what was a very young squad and a number of players put in solid performances.

“The Under 18 season is finished now but we will continue to play fixtures with our Under 17s in preparation for next year’s Under 18 programme.”
