Valentine’s Day wedding for Warriors supporters

Saturday’s Valentine’s Day match against Rotherham Titans will be even more special for one couple.

Warriors fans Lorraine Gardner, 54, and Malcolm Cox, 59, from Barbourne will be enjoying their dream wedding at Sixways before the match kicks-off at 12.35pm.

And after they’ve tied the knot in the stadium’s Sanlam Suite, they’ll be taking their seats on the East Stand balcony as Dean Ryan’s men look to extend their winning run to 21 consecutive games.

Lorraine said: “We’ve lived together in Worcester for a while now so it was a choice between two hotels in the city and Sixways.

“The two hotels were lovely but when we saw Sixways I knew it was the place I wanted to get married. The facilities at Sixways are fantastic and the people who have been looking after us have been so helpful.”

Lorraine, who works as a PA to the MD of Mapei UK, attended her first Warriors match two years ago, shortly after meeting Malcolm, who works as Operations Manager for Amey.

And she says she enjoys the atmosphere every time she comes to a match.

She continued: “About two or three months into the relationship Malcolm took me to watch the rugby for the first time.

“He goes with three of his friends and, when I turned up, his friends had no idea who I was!

“The team is doing really well now and there’s a real family atmosphere at matches so I love going to Sixways.”

Saturday’s wedding coincides with Warriors’ annual Charity Matchday, where the club raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice. And Lorraine says it will be a day to remember.

She added: “I knew I’d never forget my wedding anniversary if I got married on Valentine’s Day!

“When it was announced that it would fall on the same day as the Charity Matchday, it gave us another element to look forward to so we’re both really excited about the day.”

Sixways can host weddings ranging from small intimate occasions to large celebrations for 250 guests or more.

There are several suites to choose from depending on your party size and requirements and there are five suites licensed for civil ceremonies, which means you can hold your ceremony and reception in one location.
