Warriors Under 15s and 16s taste success in triple-header

Warriors Under 15s and 16s both tasted success last Friday in a triple-header with Saracens and Wasps at Allianz Park.

The Under 16s produced two last-gasp tries to secure wins over Saracens (12-10) and Wasps (15-14).

George Radburn and Paolo Peschisolido crossed the whitewash with Lewis Dorey kicking a conversion to help the youngsters to beat the hosts, while three tries earned them a narrow one-point win over Wasps after the forwards drove over the line in the last minute of the game.

Meanwhile the Under 15s slipped to a 20-5 defeat to Saracens before swatting Wasps 20-15 thanks to winger Marques Sinclair’s hat-trick and one for full-back Ed Clowes following a superb counter-attack.

Assistant Academy Manager Chim Gale said: “The Under 16s have gone unbeaten this season. They showed great fight and determination to come back with scores in the last play of both games.

“Sarries and Wasps are good sides. In the first half of the first game we lost three of our pack through injuries so we were limited on numbers.

“We didn’t have that many players left to rotate around and despite some tired bodies they fought hard to earn another win which was fantastic.

“The Under 15s struggled against a very physical Saracens side but did produce a well-worked try before working on some issues at the breakdown which helped them to beat Wasps by scoring four tries in the next match.

“The Under 16s will now go forward into the Under 17s group as we look forward to next year’s Under 18 Academy series and it will be a strong mix with that group.”
