Stelling crowned March Player of the Month

Max Stelling has been chosen as the Greene King IPA Championship Player of the Month for March after topping the public vote.

The centre has enjoyed an outstanding season at Sixways since graduating from the Warriors Academy and saw off Rotherham Titans’ Alex Rieder to win the award.

Stelling, who has racked-up 16 tries this season, has become a regular in the Warriors backline and has helped Warriors become the leading tryscorers in the Championship.

The 21-year-old represented Worcester’s fourth nomination, with Mike Williams, Sam Betty and Ryan Mills previously included in the Player of the Month shortlist.

Stelling said: “It’s nice to be recognised with a player-of-the-month nomination so to win the award is obviously a real honour.

“Dean Ryan and the coaching staff have been really supportive this season and they’ve given me a lot of gametime, which has been brilliant for my development.

“I’ve been pleased with my form and, with the Championship play-offs just around the corner, it’s time to really push-on as we look to achieve our goal of promotion.”

Rotherham’s Rieder came second in the public vote, while Mosely’s Chris Brightwell took second runner-up.

April’s Player of the Month will mark the final award for the 2014/15 season with the Greene King IPA Championship play-offs beginning on May 2/3.
