Warriors supporters will be able to see the Rugby World Cup Trophy when it comes to Sixways later this year.
Rugby’s greatest prize – the Webb Ellis Cup – will visit the stadium on Saturday 18 July as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.
It’s set to be an exciting occasion at Sixways as Warriors will be hosting a tag tournament with local clubs before the Trophy arrives at 1pm.
There will be an opportunity for people to take a photo of the Trophy between 2pm and 4pm, while there will be funfair rides, live music, stadium tours, food and drink and other activities at the stadium.
Warriors Chief Executive Jim O’Toole said: “With Rugby World Cup 2015 just around the corner, it is an extremely exciting year for the sport in this country so we’re delighted to welcome the Webb Ellis Cup to Sixways this summer.
“We hope to see as many of our supporters here as possible so they can enjoy a fantastic day of entertainment in the lead-up to the start of the tournament.”
Launching on June 10 – 100 days before the opening match – the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
The journey throughout the UK and Ireland aims to engage fans and give them the opportunity to build unforgettable memories as part of their own Rugby World Cup 2015 story.
Rugby is at the heart of the Trophy Tour engaging with over 100 rugby clubs, organisations and rugby festivals, from grassroots to elite.
In addition host cities, match venues, community and legacy programmes, sports events, stakeholder visits, Worldwide Partner activations and iconic landmarks will feature as part of the Trophy Tour with over 300 events programmed across the 100-day continuous tour.
With less than six months to go till the tournament gets underway, the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour across the UK and Ireland will create hundreds of opportunities for fans to see the Webb Ellis Cup and tell their rugby story as they countdown to their own tournament experience.
