RDC helps steer England Sevens to third place

Warriors’ Richard de Carpentier helped England Sevens to third place at the weekend’s Glasgow leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

Simon Amor's side fought out a tight contest with Australia in their tournament opener which ended in a draw, before they thumped Russia – with De Carpentier getting on the scoresheet.

They then defeated France to end the pool stages before seeing-off Canada in the Cup quarter-final.

However, they were edged 5-0 by New Zealand in the semi-finals but made amends to win the Plate Final against USA and securing third-place in the competition.

England are now fourth in the World Series Standings behind third-placed New Zealand, second-placed South Africa and leaders Fiji.

England Sevens results:
England 17-17 Australia
England 43-7 Russia
France 7-26 England
Canada 7-14 England
England 0-5 New Zealand
USA 19-24 England
