Heem and Chiefs miss out on Super Rugby semi-final

New Warriors winger Bryce Heem, who will move to Sixways this summer, has missed out on a place in the Super Rugby semi-finals after his Waikato Chiefs side lost 24-14 to the Highlanders in Dunedin at the weekend.

Fourteen points from the boot of Lima Sopoaga and two tries from Waisake Naholo was enough for the Highlanders to secure a place in the last four of the southern hemisphere competition.

Chiefs fly-half Andrew Horrell had kicked three first-half penalties to give his side the lead at the break but a second-half try from Brodie Retallick, who was named last year’s World Player of the Year, wasn't enough to prevent Chiefs falling to defeat.

The Highlanders will now travel to Sydney to take on the Waratahs for a place in this year's final.

Heem will link-up with his new Warriors teammates later this summer as the Sixways side look to hit the ground running on their Aviva Premiership return.
