Play-off hero Lamb only looking ahead

Ryan Lamb admits he and his Warriors teammates are focussing only on their task ahead as they prepare for their return to the Aviva Premiership.

The Warriors squad returned to training last week after a summer of celebrations following their play-off success.

And, according to the Warriors fly-half, the hard work has already begun.

He said: “The boys are really looking forward to being back in the Premiership and with the Rugby World Cup taking place we have longer than usual to prepare for that.

“We don’t have people away playing international rugby so we’ve got longer together as a full squad and that will be a big advantage for us. There’s a lot of energy and work going in.

“So far, pre-season has been tailored towards the specific needs of individuals. The lads who need to do a bit more running are doing that and the lads who need to bulk up are doing more weights.”

Lamb cemented his place in Warriors folklore for eternity after kicking Warriors back into the Aviva Premiership with a last-minute conversion against Bristol at the end of the Championship play-off final in May.

And he has revealed what was going through his head ahead of the biggest kick he has ever taken.

He added: “I didn’t take a lot of time over the kick. I knew I had done that kick hundreds of times before and I didn’t want to think about it too much so I took it as quickly as I could.

“With ten minutes remaining we looked out of it but the boys never lost their belief. We kept fighting and working hard for each other.

“We’re only looking to the future now but following that play-off victory we know we can always rely on each other as individuals and that will stand us in good stead.”
