VIDEO – Andy Short discusses his Sixways return

Andy Short says his return to Worcester feels like a homecoming.

The 24-year-old, who progressed through Warriors’ AASE Scheme, returned to the Club this summer after two seasons with Bristol Rugby.

And the versatile back is looking forward to playing at Sixways again.

He explained: “It’s been great coming back as it means a lot to play for Warriors. I’m a Worcester boy and it’s going to be great playing in front of the home crowd again.

“Our aims as a squad are to make this Club successful and really competitive in the Aviva Premiership.”

Earlier this summer Warriors announced they would be redeveloping their West Stand facilities to provide players with a first-class training environment.

And, according to Short, the improvements will ensure the Club continues to progress.

He said: “We’re in a bit of a transition phase at the minute as we are based in a different part of the stadium due to all the developments.

“But everyone is excited to experience the new facilities and they will help to make us a great Premiership Club.”

Short scored nine tries in 30 games during his first spell at Sixways, a feat which included a European Challenge Cup hat-trick against Femi-CZ VEA Rovigo in 2012.

And the former England youth international says Dean Ryan’s plans for the Club convinced him to return.

He added: “Dean came to me with a set of plans and I really liked them.

“Talking to other players it’s clear to see the Club is going in the right direction and that’s a credit to Dean and the coaches.

“I want to be part of that. I want to be playing week in week out in front of the Sixways fans and be a real part what we are doing here.”
