Under 18s in warm-up win over Saints

Warriors made it two wins out of two against Northampton Saints last weekend as the Under 18s romped to victory on the A&H Pitch at Sixways.

To add to the first-team’s last-minute triumph on Friday night, Saturday afternoon saw the youngsters warm-up for their new season with a 29-5 win over the Saints.

Warwick School’s Nick David, Worcester Sixth Form College and AASE student George Newman and prop Fred Hemmingway all bagged tries, while Hartpury College centre Robbie Smith helped himself to a double to guide the youngsters to victory.

This Saturday Mark Hewitt’s side will open their Aviva Premiership Rugby Under 18 Academy League account at home to Yorkshire Carnegie on the A&H Pitch at Sixways (kick-off 1pm).

Hewitt said: “Last Saturday was a great opportunity to play a decent side in preparation for the new season.

“We had a few players missing which allowed some of those from the wider squad to come in and make their mark.

“It was a solid performance and it’s given us a few selection headaches ahead of Saturday’s league opener where we’ll be looking to start with a bang.”
