Mama commits future to Warriors

Warriors have secured the permanent signing of all-action back-row Marco Mama from Bristol Rugby ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The 24-year-old, who joined Warriors on loan in August 2015, returns to parent club Bristol on February 28 before re-joining his Sixways teammates ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Mama has been a consistent performer for Dean Ryan’s side across all competitions this season, making 12 appearances and crossing for his maiden Aviva Premiership try against Harlequins earlier this month.

After coming through the ranks at Bristol, Mama has scored an impressive 22 tries in 106 games for the Ashton Gate side, and will return to Bristol for the end of the season as they look to gain promotion to the top-flight.

Mama said: “I’ve enjoyed some good times with Bristol and I will give my all to help them try and get promoted.

“But sometimes we have to make difficult decisions and I feel Worcester is the best place for me to develop my career at this time.

“I think I’ve made some huge strides playing for Warriors in the last few months and with the direction in which the Club is heading, it’s something I very much want to be a part of.”

Director of Rugby Dean Ryan added: “We’re delighted Marco has decided to pledge his future to the Club.

“He is still a young player with plenty of potential and is hungry for Premiership action.

“We’ve been really impressed with his performances this season and we are excited about what he has to offer.”
