Warriors unleash #LeadTheWay campaign

The Warriors Community Foundation is launching a new campaign this week to reach out to people who live in isolation.

#LeadTheWay is an overarching campaign that will highlight the issues faced by people who have lost the ability to socially interact.

This includes people who are full-time carers for others, people who suffer from mental illness, physical disability or are living alone and have lost the confidence to visit busy places which can cause them anxiety.

To kick-off our campaign we will be hosting Guide Dogs at our fixture on Saturday 26 March when we play London Irish.

Throughout the yearlong campaign we will be raising funds to sponsor a Warriors Guide Dog from birth until it is matched with a visually impaired person living in Worcester.

We need to raise £5,000 to select a puppy and name it and we are asking our Warriors Family to help us in achieving this goal.

Tom Biggs, who was first to sign-up to the campaign as Player Ambassador, said: “I am delighted to be part of this and will do all I can to support the goal to get a Warriors Guide Dog as part of the overarching campaign to help and support those who live in isolation.”

Community Fundraiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Ali Waterer, said: “I would personally like to thank all the staff, players & supporters of Warriors for choosing to partner Guide Dogs and raising funds to name their very own Guide Dog Puppy.

“Naming a puppy is a fantastic way for people and organisations to make a difference to the lives of people who are blind or partially sighted. Around 180,000 rarely leave home alone and without the help of fundraising schemes such as this we would not be able to help the number of people that we do.

“A total of 863 new guide dog partnerships were created last year. It's only through support such as this from Warriors that we're able to maintain our lifelong commitment to blind and partially sighted people in the community as the guide dog service relies purely on voluntary income which is why we are so grateful for the efforts of organisations to support us.”

If you want to help us achieve our goal you can be part of the #LeadTheWay campaign. Text LEAD00 £10 to 70070 to donate and make a difference today.
