Seven Warriors picked for England Under 17s

A whopping SEVEN Warriors have been picked for England Under 17s ahead of their clash with Italy at St Helen’s in Swansea today (kick-off 2.30pm).

Beck Cutting, who featured for England Under 18s at the weekend, is named in the side, along with Worcester Sixth Form College’s Ted Hill (back row), who has featured for Worcester Cavaliers this season.

Full-back Nick David (Warwick School), versatile back Dion King (King’s Worcester), tighthead prop Nick Rigby (Warwick School), and locks James Scott (Malvern College) and Laurence Weston (Bromsgrove School) are also in the squad.

All seven youngsters have been a part of Warriors Under 18s’ successful 2015/16 campaign in which they reached their first-ever Finals Day at Allianz Park, thrashing Exeter Chiefs 44-19.

To add to this, Warriors also have three players (Tom Furnival, Oliver Lawrence and Tom Fawcett) named in the England Under 16s side to face Wales later this month, while hooker Cutting and tighthead Joe Morris have also been representing England Under 18s in the Five Nations festival – helping their country to a 45-22 win over Scotland last weekend.

Three Pears Academy Manager Mark Hewitt said: “It’s fantastic to see a number of our youngsters gaining international recognition after what’s been an impressive season and we wish them all the best on their time with away with England.

“Our Academy is coming to fruition and these guys have a bright future ahead of them.”
