Warriors impress among Premiership’s top stats

The final list of Opta stats for the 2015/16 Aviva Premiership Season have been released with a number of Warriors featuring prominently across the categories.

In just 18 games, Player of the Season Bryce Heem finished fourth in metres made with a whopping 1337, while finishing second in the offloads chart (24).

The former All Blacks Sevens star was also the sixth best player in the league in terms of defenders beaten (54) and breaks (26) to add to his impressive haul of seven tries.

Fellow winger Cooper Vuna also played his part, finishing as Warriors’ top tryscorer this season and joint-fifth in the Aviva Premiership with nine scores in his 21 appearances.

He also came third in the breaks chart with 29 while making 944 metres during the campaign to sit him in 13th place.

And the ever-reliable Chris Pennell once again showed his consistency across the season.

The full-back played every game, recording the most metres made since Opta stats began with 1796 – to back up his 1708 metres which earned him top spot in his previous Premiership campaign back in 2013/14.

The England-capped back also finished second in the carries with 260, beating 35 defenders.

The forwards were also among the league leaders for most tackles.

Ireland legend Donncha O’Callaghan demonstrated his commitment to the cause with 221 tackles while Phil Dowson finished in sixth position with 213.

Prop Val Rapava Ruskin enjoyed a fine season and found himself in the top five of the turnovers chart, having registered 18 in 17 games.
