Warriors to travel to Russia in European Challenge Cup

Warriors will face a first-ever trip to Russia to play Enisei-STM in the 2016/17 European Challenge Cup.

Drawn into Pool 3, Warriors will also come up against French Top 14 outfit Brive along with Newport Gwent Dragons of the Guinness PRO12.

Russian side Enisei-STM won’t be a team to be taken lightly, after winning two of their Challenge Cup fixtures last season – including the scalp of Newcastle Falcons.

Meanwhile, the Sixways faithful may remember fellow Pool 3 opponents Brive, who Warriors defeated in the quarter-finals of the competition back in 2009.

The French club finished in eighth position in last season’s Top 14 – just missing out on Champions Cup qualification.

It’ll also be a reunion with former player and coach Ceri Jones, as Warriors face Welsh side Newport Gwent Dragons in their pool.

Warriors Chief Executive Jim O'Toole said: “We’re already looking forward to some exciting European games both at Sixways and on the road in the coming season.

“Our first-ever trip to Russia is something that will excite everyone associated with the Club and it will be great to see our supporters cheering the boys on against Enisei-STM.

“We have had some memorable European matches in the past so we can’t wait to get our campaign up and running later this year.”

Season Ticket holders will be able to see all home European Challenge Cup matches as part of their package.
