Warriors AASE make it three from three

Warriors AASE side Worcester Sixth Form College fought back to beat Sale Sharks’ Myerscough College last Wednesday as they made it three wins from three in the AASE League.

The youngsters found themselves 10-0 down inside five minutes but responded with four first-half tries as Navarre Haisila Lokotui, Lewis Dorey, Cael Hodgson and Charlie Gamble all went over with Dorey adding all four conversions.

The second-half was a quieter affair with both sides scoring a try apiece.

However, Myerscough were the dominant side for large parts of the half, and after a yellow card for Hodgson, the Worcester AASE side had to work hard to keep the home side out.

The last passage of play was from Worcester, when their defensive efforts finally paid off with a breakaway try for Calum Jones and Dorey again converted to finish the afternoon with a 100 per cent kicking accuracy from the tee.

AASE Manager Ryan Watkins said: “We played some really exciting rugby at times but probably needed to play a little more territory in the second-half.

“It's a tough place to go and play and not many teams come away from there with all five league points.

“A special mention must go to Cael Hodgson and Will Sutton who both had standout performances.”

The AASE side are back in action at home to Saracens’ Oaklands College this Wednesday at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex (kick-off 2pm).

Watkins added: “It’s a big game this week against Oaklands who also have a 100 per cent record this season but we will give it everything we’ve got and hopefully continue our good run.”
