Warriors and Valkyries International Round-Up

Three Warriors were in international action at the weekend including centre Ben Te’o who came on for his England debut in the 37-21 win over South Africa at Twickenham.

Te’o becomes the first Warrior to wear the Red Rose since Chris Pennell played against the All Blacks back in 2014.

England produced a fine four-try display to complete their first win over the Springboks since 2006.

The centre could well be set for his second appearance as England host Fiji at Twickenham this Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm).

Warriors hooker Jaba Bregvadze was in action for Georgia who took on Japan at the weekend but despite the Lelos leading 12-8 at the break, Japan ran out 28-22 winners.

Flanker Alafoti Faosiliva also started for Samoa in their tough trip to France where Les Bleus stormed to a 52-8 win.

Bregvadze and Faosiliva may well go face to face this Saturday as their two nations meet in Tbilisi.

Meanwhile, Worcester Valkyries prop Rochelle Clark made her 115th international appearance for England Women, overtaking Jason Leonard as England’s highest appearance-maker of all time as she scored a try in the 12-10 win over Ireland at University College Dublin on Sunday.

Valkyries tighthead Laura Keates started the game while centre Ceri Large also came off the bench in the victory as the Red Roses went marching on.

If Clark features against Canada Women later this month, she would overtake Valkyries Director of Rugby Donna Kennedy, who has 115 caps for Scotland, as the Women's game’s most-capped player in history.

Valkyries' Dyddgu Hywel also scored for Wales Women on Friday night in their 43-5 win over the UK Armed Forces while Shona Powell-Hughes also featured.
